Dynamic spatial reorganization of BSK1 complexes in the plasma membrane underpins signal-specific activation for growth and immunity

Growth and immunity are opposing processes that compete for cellular resources, proper resource allocation is crucial plant survival. BSK1 plays a key role in the regulation of both growth by associating with BRI1 FLS2, respectively. However, it remains unclear how two antagonistic signals co-opt to induce signal-specific activation. Here we show dynamic spatial reorganization within plasma membrane underlies mechanism activation or immunity. Resting localizes rafts as complexes. Unlike BSK1-associated FLS2 BRI1, flg22 exogenous brassinosteroid (BR) treatment did not decrease levels at (PM) but rather induced multimerization dissociation from FLS2/BSK1 BRI1/BSK1, Moreover, flg22-activated translocated non-membrane-raft regions, whereas BR-activated remained rafts. When applied together flg22, BR suppressed various flg22-induced activities such FLS2/BSK1, interaction MAPKKK5, BSK translocation MAPKKK5. Taken together, this study provides unique insight into precise control spatiotemporal organization regulates signaling specificity balance
